The Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, paid a condolence visit on Thursday to the family of the late Elder Idowu Ogunsemowo, former Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), at their residence in Ketu-Ereyun.
Elder Ogunsemowo, widely respected for his dedication to grassroots mobilization and civic service, was remembered as a pillar of community development in the LCDA. The visit was marked by sober reflection and a strong show of solidarity, with the Chairman accompanied by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Jayesimi Ibraheem; former APC LGA Chairman, Alhaji Wasiu Bakare; and Councillor-elect for Ward Q1, Hon. Oluwo Martins Oriyomi.
During the visit, Otunba Anomo paid tribute to the late Elder Ogunsemowo, describing him as a quintessential community leader whose life was a model of selflessness, peacebuilding, and commitment to local development. He acknowledged Ogunsemowo’s significant contributions across various Community Development Associations (CDAs), noting that his legacy would remain deeply etched in the collective memory of the people of Ikosi-Ejinrin.
While consoling the bereaved family, the Chairman offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased and strength for the family during this difficult period. He also assured the family and the broader CDC community of the Council’s continued support throughout the mourning period and beyond.
In a meaningful act of support, Otunba Anomo extended employment opportunities to three members of the Ogunsemowo family. Miss Ogunsemowo Oluwafunmilayo Gloria, daughter of the deceased, was offered employment to support her ongoing academic pursuits. Mr. Ogunsemowo Micheal Adebola, a university undergraduate and son of the late CDC chairman, was also included in the employment gesture, as was Mrs. Ogunsemowo Adeyinka Alirat, the widow, to help provide immediate and long-term economic stability for the household.
Further extending his outreach, the Chairman visited the home of Mrs. Adeleye Grace, popularly known as Iya Teacher and elder sister of the deceased. There, he announced the employment of Mr. Oluaja Femi, a trained science educator. Mr. Femi has since been deployed to Molajoye Senior Secondary School, strengthening the council’s education workforce while honoring the memory of Elder Ogunsemowo through continued service to the community.
The visits were not only a time of mourning and remembrance but also a clear reflection of the Chairman’s people-focused approach to leadership. By turning grief into opportunity and pledging concrete support, Otunba Anomo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of residents—especially in their moments of greatest need.
Elder Ogunsemowo may be gone, but through the lives touched in his memory, his legacy of service lives on.
