The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has called on all eligible residents of the area to take full advantage of the forthcoming Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

EpeInsights reports that the exercise, which will commence on Monday, August 18, 2025, will begin with an online pre-registration process via INEC’s official portal, cvr.inecnigeria.org.

This initial phase will be followed by physical registration starting Monday, August 25, at all INEC offices across the country, including the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Secretariat.

The Chairman stressed that the CVR is open to Nigerians who are yet to register for a Permanent Voter Card (PVC), those seeking to replace lost or damaged cards and individuals wishing to transfer their registration to a new location due to relocation.

Speaking on the importance of the exercise, the Chairman reminded residents that participating in elections begins with proper voter registration.

“It is your civic responsibility. It is the law,” he said.

“We must ensure that every eligible citizen in Ibeju-Lekki is registered and ready to vote in the next elections. The strength of our democracy lies in our active participation.”

INEC has assured that adequate arrangements have been made to accommodate both online and in-person registrants, and urged the public to begin the process early to avoid last-minute congestion.

The local government’s call comes as part of a broader national campaign to increase voter participation and strengthen electoral processes ahead of future elections.
