In what has been widely described as a landmark moment in grassroots governance, the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun, FHTI, launched a Mega Empowerment Programme on Monday, June 23, 2025, at the Epe Local Government Secretariat.
EpeInsights reports that the event drew thousands of enthusiastic residents, community leaders and political dignitaries who came together to witness the large-scale distribution of empowerment tools aimed at promoting self-reliance, economic sustainability and local enterprise development.
Items distributed during the program included tricycles, industrial sewing machines, modern hair dryers, grinding machines, fishing nets and life jackets, large-capacity coolers, and assorted soft drinks and bottled water.
According to the Chairman, each item was thoughtfully selected to align with the community’s economic needs and to create new income-generating opportunities for beneficiaries.
Among the notable guests in attendance were Alhaji Akanni Seriki Bamu, Epe Divisional Leader and Member of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC); Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and GAC member; Hon. Wale Raji, Member, House of Representatives for Epe Federal Constituency; and Hon. Abiodun Tobun, Member, Lagos State House of Assembly for Epe Constituency I. Religious leaders, community development stakeholders, youth representatives and traditional leaders were also present to show support.
In her remarks, Hon. Animashaun reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to people-centered development, stressing that the initiative is part of a broader plan to stimulate inclusive economic growth.
“This empowerment program is not a one-off gesture; it is a continuation of our vision to uplift lives, stimulate the local economy, and ensure that no hardworking resident of Epe is left behind,” she said.
A visibly emotional beneficiary, Mr. Raymond Oladapo Eturugo, who received a brand-new tricycle, expressed heartfelt gratitude.
“This is more than just a tricycle, it is a new beginning for me and my family. For years, I’ve struggled to make ends meet, but today, Hon. Princess Surah has given me not just a means of livelihood, but renewed hope in a government that truly cares for its people,” he said.
The program concluded with loud ovations and prayers from residents, who described the initiative as a defining example of leadership that listens and delivers.
Under Hon. Animashaun’s leadership, Epe is not just witnessing governance—it is experiencing a transformation anchored on compassion, inclusion, and progress.
