Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa has been formally presented with his certificate of return by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), affirming his re-election as Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area.

EpeInsights reports that the presentation ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, July 16, at LASIEC’s headquarters, also saw the handover of return certificates to Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, the Vice Chairman-elect, and elected Councillors of the LGA.

The event came on the heels of the July 12 local government polls where Hon. Olowa secured a landslide victory, earning the mandate of the people for a second term.

The return of Hon. Olowa, described by many as a dynamic and result-oriented council boss, marks a pivotal moment in the political landscape of Ibeju-Lekki. His first term was widely regarded for strides in community development, infrastructure, youth empowerment and security.

Speaking after receiving his certificate, Hon. Olowa expressed gratitude to the residents of Ibeju-Lekki for the renewed trust and reiterated his commitment to deepening grassroots governance.

“This victory is not mine alone—it belongs to the people of Ibeju-Lekki,” he said. “With this fresh mandate, we are re-energized to consolidate on our achievements and address emerging challenges with renewed vigour and inclusiveness.”

Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Akadiri Ayorinde, described the outcome as a reflection of the popular will. “This indeed is Vox Populi, Vox Dei—the voice of the people is the voice of God. The electorate has spoken clearly and decisively,” he noted in a statement.

The ceremony drew stakeholders from across the council area, party officials, traditional leaders, and well-wishers who lauded LASIEC for a peaceful and transparent electoral process.

As Hon. Olowa and his team prepare to commence a new four-year term, expectations are high for a continuation of people-centered policies, enhanced development projects, and stronger institutional reforms across Ibeju-Lekki.
