In a continued effort to extend healthcare to every corner of Lagos State, Health District III has successfully delivered a comprehensive free medical outreach to three riverine communities in Epe Local Government Area.

EpeInsights gathered that the outreach, which took place in Emmuna, Saga and Abomiti, all within the Olugbokere Ward provided residents with vital health services, tackling the challenge of limited access to care in remote locations.

The Permanent Secretary of Health District III, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, described the initiative as part of the Lagos State Government’s broader mission to promote inclusive healthcare.

“These outreach programmes ensure our riverine communities receive comprehensive healthcare services right at their doorstep,” she said.

“We are not just treating illness, we are promoting wellness and preventing disease through education and early intervention.”

Dr. Adeleke highlighted the logistical effort involved, noting that medical teams had to navigate through waterways by boat to reach the communities.

“It’s a testament to our commitment that no community, no matter how remote, is left behind,” she added.

Residents, including elderly individuals and young mothers, turned out in large numbers to receive long-awaited medical attention.

Services provided during the outreach included free medical consultations, dental and general health screenings, free eyeglasses, and immunization for children and infants.

Also featured were maternal and child health education sessions, distribution of essential medications, and awareness campaigns on disease prevention.

The outreach further included monitoring for high blood pressure and diabetes, along with family planning counselling offering both immediate care and long-term health support.

Dr. Adeleke reiterated that the outreach is a reflection of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s dedication to healthcare equity and social inclusion.

“We will continue to bridge healthcare gaps and promote a healthier, more inclusive society for all,” she affirmed.Health District III Takes Free Medical Outreach to Riverine Communities in Epe Health District III Takes Free Medical Outreach to Riverine Communities in Epe
