Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, as he marks an incredible milestone his 99th birthday.
EpeInsights reports that in a statement released on Sunday through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu praised Pa Fasoranti as a statesman of remarkable character and unwavering dedication to the progress of Yorubaland and Nigeria at large.
Describing him as a courageous, faithful, and visionary leader, the Governor acknowledged Fasoranti’s deep impact both as a public servant and an educationist.
“Pa Fasoranti’s legacy in Nigeria, especially in public service, is truly indelible,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He noted that the nonagenarian’s influence extends beyond politics, citing his lifelong passion for education and community development.
“He has touched countless lives through his commitment to service and his love for his people,” the Governor added.
“On behalf of my family, the government, and the people of Lagos State, I celebrate this icon of leadership and integrity. As the leader of Afenifere, Papa Fasoranti has steered the organization with wisdom, courage, and consistency, upholding the values of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, under whom he once served.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude for Pa Fasoranti’s life and legacy, emphasizing that reaching 99 years is a rare blessing.
“We are grateful to God for his life. It’s not everyone who gets the gift of long life, and Baba’s journey is one we are proud to celebrate.”
He concluded with a prayer: “As Pa Fasoranti turns 99 today, may the Almighty continue to grant him good health, strength, and wisdom to keep serving the Yoruba people and Nigeria.”
