Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is set to meet with stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, as part of preparations for the upcoming local government elections scheduled for July 12.
EpeInsights reports that the high-level meeting, billed to take place at the State House, Marina by 12 noon, will bring together elected and appointed APC officials, party leaders and all candidates contesting in the elections under the party’s platform.
According to a statement signed by the Lagos APC Spokesperson, Hon. Seye Oladejo, the parley is aimed at mobilizing party members and strengthening grassroots engagement ahead of the polls.
“The meeting will serve as the rallying point for the mobilization of our troops towards the local government elections,” Oladejo stated.
The build-up to the elections has already seen a major milestone with the presentation of party flags to all 57 APC chairmanship candidates, an event that held last week at the party’s state secretariat in Ogba.
The flag presentation ceremony was attended by key figures in the state’s political and governance landscape, and has been described as a morale booster for party loyalists.
Oladejo noted that Lagosians’ continued support for the APC is rooted in the party’s commitment to progressive governance, which he said has translated into “unparalleled and unprecedented growth across all sectors” of the state.
“We are confident that the landmark achievements of our local government councils in areas such as education, primary health care, housing, and social interventions, among others, will be rewarded with massive votes at the polls,” he added.
The July 12 local government elections will determine leadership across Lagos’ 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas (LCDAs), a critical layer of governance in Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre.
With Tuesday’s parley, the APC hopes to consolidate its base and build momentum for another sweeping victory at the grassroots level.
