The Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Epe, Dr. Adesola Kaka, has assured residents that the hospital remains committed to delivering quality and affordable healthcare services to the community and beyond.

EpeInsights reports that the MD while speaking during the celebration of Customer Service Week, expressed appreciation to patients and residents of Epe for their trust and patronage since the centre’s establishment. He emphasized that FMC Epe has evolved into a community-oriented institution serving patients from areas such as Lekki, Benin, and Ijebu-Ode.

According to him, the hospital has recorded visible improvements across several departments, including pediatrics, orthopedics and laboratory services, with more medical specialists expected to join soon.

“We appreciate the Lagos State Government for allowing some of their clinical staff to stay until FMC staff are fully deployed. Orthopedic doctors and gynecologists are already on ground, and more professionals will soon join us,” Dr. Kaka said.

Dr. Kaka commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the establishment of the centre and acknowledged the support of the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Tunji Alausa, for ensuring the project’s successful implementation.

On affordability, Dr. Kaka stressed that FMC Epe has deliberately maintained low service tariffs while integrating state and national health insurance schemes to ease the financial burden on patients.FMC Epe Begins Free Maternal, Neonatal, Preventive Healthcare Services

“Out-of-pocket payment is not sustainable. Health insurance is the way forward. Both Lagos State and National Health Insurance Schemes are available at FMC Epe,” he explained.

Beyond clinical care, the Medical Director announced plans to make FMC Epe a centre for medical training. The ongoing School of Nursing project, he said, will open new opportunities for young people in Epe and surrounding communities to pursue nursing careers locally.

“The school of nursing is a critical part of our vision. Construction of the hostel is ongoing, and the main college building has already been awarded. Once completed, it will help build local capacity and improve healthcare delivery across Lagos State and Nigeria,” Dr. Kaka added.

He concluded that the expansion projects alongside the hospital’s affordability initiatives reflect the government’s broader goal of enhancing access to quality healthcare while investing in the next generation of medical professionals.
