Isese Day, observed annually in Lagos and other Yoruba-speaking communities, is dedicated to celebrating the Yoruba indigenous religion, traditions, and cultural values, with festivities often including prayers, cultural displays, and communal gatherings.
Meanwhile, over three million residents are expected in Lagos to participate in the 2025 edition of Ìṣẹ̀ṣe Day, a cultural celebration dedicated to honouring Yoruba heritage, spirituality and identity.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Arts, Culture and Tourism, Idris Aregbe, who stated this described Ìṣẹ̀ṣe Day as a living expression of traditions and a celebration of Yoruba spirituality as an important part of Nigeria’s cultural and religious landscape.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had declared Wednesday, August twenty, a public holiday across the state, allowing residents to fully engage in the celebrations.
According to Aregbe, the day offers an opportunity for millions of Lagosians to reconnect with their roots, appreciate ancestral heritage and celebrate the beauty of Lagos cultural identity.
