As part of activities marking its 10th anniversary, the Epe Division Professional Women Association (EPWA) paid a courtesy visit to Olori Aribike Mulikat Adewale, wife of the late Oba Sefiu Olátúnjí Adewale, the Olu Epe of Epe Kingdom, to share details of its upcoming Vocational Training Centre project aimed at empowering women and girls across the division.
EpeInsights learnt that the delegation, led by Mrs. Folake Johnson, President of EPWA, explained that the centre would provide young women and girls with practical skills and financial literacy to foster self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
Mrs. Johnson described the project as one of the association’s flagship initiatives to mark a decade of impactful community service.
“Our mission goes beyond constructing a building — we are building people,” she said. “We want our girls and women to be confident, skilled, and productive. Even with education, having a skill ensures independence and security.”
She added that EPWA also plans to sponsor less privileged individuals for training while recognising community elders who have contributed significantly to Epe’s growth and development.
Supporting the president’s remarks, the association’s vice president, Comrade Kenny Kadri-Edu, highlighted that the project reflects EPWA’s broader vision of promoting inclusive growth and social impact.
He expressed gratitude to the royal family for their continuous encouragement of developmental efforts in Epe.
“We are grateful for the royal family’s guidance and blessings. This partnership motivates us to keep driving change at the grassroots,” he said
In her response, Olori Aribike Mulikat Adewale commended EPWA’s foresight and described the proposed centre as a timely intervention for youth and women empowerment.
“I am deeply impressed by your vision,” the queen said. “Empowering girls through skills and mentorship is one of the best ways to strengthen a community. But as you do so, please continue to encourage our children to pursue education it gives direction and purpose to every effort.”
Olori Aribike prayed for the success of the project and urged EPWA members to remain united and focused in their mission to uplift women across the division.
The visit ended with warm exchanges, group photographs, and words of encouragement from the royal household — a gesture that underscored mutual respect and collaboration toward a more empowered Epe.
