The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun, has paid glowing tribute to the late Olu Epe of Epe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba Shefiu Adewale Bamgbopa, Eshilokun I.
EpeInsights reports that the Chairman described his passing as the end of an era defined by peace, dignity and selfless leadership.
In a moving condolence message, Hon. Animashaun expressed profound grief over the loss of the revered monarch, whom she described as “a father, a guardian of heritage, and a symbol of unity whose reign brought calm and progress to the land of Epe.”
“The news of Kabiyesi’s transition pierced the soul and weighed heavily on our hearts,” she wrote.
“It is not just the end of a reign, it is the departure of a spiritual compass and a monarch whose quiet wisdom touched everyone fortunate enough to encounter him.”
Reflecting on her personal relationship with the late king, Princess Animashaun noted that beyond his role as a traditional ruler, Kabiyesi Bamgbopa served as a steady partner in the development of Epe.
“I was privileged to witness the depth of his wisdom and the sincerity of his heart. He was a father to me and a guiding light whose royal counsel shaped many of our shared achievements,” she said.
She also commended Oba Bamgbopa’s humility, grace, and unwavering commitment to the people, recalling how he bore the crown not merely as a title, but as a sacred duty to serve with love.
The chairman extended her heartfelt condolences to the royal family, traditional chiefs, the Council of Obas, and all indigenes of Epe, assuring them that Kabiyesi’s legacy would not fade with time.
“Even in our grief, we find comfort in the rich legacy he leaves behind, a legacy of peace, love, and visionary leadership,” she said.
“Adieu, Kabiyesi. Your memory will remain etched in the heart of Epe forever.”
She concluded the tribute with prayers for Allah’s mercy, asking that the monarch be granted eternal rest in Aljanah Firdaus.
As Epe mourns, tributes continue to pour in for a king many describe as the embodiment of tradition, wisdom and fatherly grace.
