In a bold move to promote environmental cleanliness and restore orderliness across Epe, the Epe Local Government has launched a major environmental inspection and enforcement drive across key commercial hubs, including Ita Ale Market, Ayetoro Market, and Ikorodu Garage.
EpeInsights reports that the exercise, which took place on Thursday, October 23, 2025, was led by the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Araba Taofeek, alongside other councilors, on the directive of the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Princess) Surah Olayemi Animashaun, FHTI.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the council to strengthen compliance with environmental laws and improve public hygiene and safety within the local government area.
During the tour, the council team sensitized traders and residents on the importance of maintaining a clean, organized, and safe trading environment, warning that indiscriminate roadside trading contributes to congestion, traffic obstruction, and potential safety risks.
Traders operating along road corridors were advised to return to their designated market stalls to ensure free movement and a cleaner environment for all.
The inspection team also identified several areas requiring urgent sanitation attention and called on market leaders to take collective responsibility for proper waste disposal and hygiene within their communities.
Reaffirming the council’s stance on environmental discipline, Hon. Araba Taofeek said the administration remains committed to sustaining regular monitoring and enforcement.
“Cleanliness is everyone’s responsibility,” he stated.
“The council will continue to sensitize, support, and where necessary, enforce compliance to ensure that Epe remains a model of cleanliness and orderliness.”
The initiative aligns with the broader vision of Executive Chairman Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, whose administration continues to champion people-centered policies that enhance environmental standards, promote public welfare, and encourage sustainable urban management.
With this renewed enforcement campaign, Epe Local Government is reinforcing its commitment to building a cleaner, safer, and more organized environment for residents, traders, and visitors alike.
