In a show of commitment to youth empowerment, Lagos State Governance Advisory Council member and APC Apex Leader in Epe Division, Alhaji Shakirudeen Akanni Seriki (Bamu), joined council chairmen, party leaders and supporters to celebrate new graduates of the vocational training centre named after him.

EpeInsights reports that the event, held on August 12, 2025, at the Alhaji Shakirudeen Akanni Seriki Vocational Training Centre, Kasali Oluwo Street, Epe, recognised the achievements of trainees who have acquired skills in various trades.

Built during the administration of former Epe LG Chairman Hon. Adedoyin Adesanya, the centre has produced numerous skilled artisans and entrepreneurs over the years.

Dignitaries at the event included Epe LG Vice Chairman, Alhaji Sikiru Owolomoshe (representing Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun), Eredo LCDA Chairman, Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Chairman, Hon. Akogun Wale Raji-Anomo, APC State Welfare Officer, Hon. Kehinde Adeniyi, and other party leaders.

Speaking at the ceremony, Alhaji Bamu and other leaders praised the centre’s impact, stressing that vocational training is key to reducing unemployment and fostering self-reliance among youths.

“Not everyone will follow the path of formal education and white-collar jobs,” they said.

“Vocational skills offer a path to financial independence and community growth.”

Graduates showcased their skills during the ceremony, receiving praise for their creativity and hard work.

The centre’s management thanked Alhaji Bamu for his unwavering support, describing him as “a father figure who invests in the progress of the entire community.”
