Culture, tradition and joy painted the palace grounds of the Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom on Sunday as residents, guests and dignitaries gathered for the 2025 edition of the Ojude Oba festival,  a cherished cultural celebration held annually in honour of the traditional ruler.

EpeInsights reports that the event held on the third day of Eid al-Adha (Ileya), remains a powerful symbol of unity, heritage and reverence for the monarchy in the Epe community.

This year’s event was no exception, bringing together families, cultural troupes, and social clubs in a spectacular display of color and pageantry.

The 2025 festival carried deep emotional significance, being the first Ojude Oba held after the passing of the late Olu-Epe, Oba Adewale. His legacy loomed large over the celebration, with multiple speakers paying homage to his impactful reign.

President-General of the League of Imams and Alfas, Epe Division, Sheikh Sadala Abiola Aliru, led the spiritual reflections, offering prayers for the peace and prosperity of Epe while remembering Oba Adewale’s enduring contributions to the kingdom.

Also, the Mogaji Ngeri of Epe Kingdom, Chief Adio Oduola, also offered thanks to Almighty Allah for the successful gathering and praised the people of Epe for their continued commitment to peace and development.

In a heartfelt address, Hon. Wale Raji, Member of the House of Representatives, acknowledged the recent tensions surrounding traditional and political selection processes within the kingdom tensions that have been quietly unfolding since the Olu-Epe’s demise.

“Disagreements are inevitable, but we must fear Allah and act with maturity and restraint. Epe’s progress depends on our unity, not our divisions.” Raji noted.

His message was a subtle yet firm appeal for calm and collective wisdom during a delicate time in the kingdom’s leadership transition.

The festival was chaired by Chief Anuoluwapo Talabi, joined by his wife, Chief Mrs. Talabi, who both extended warm greetings to attendees and expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.

Adding further royal elegance to the occasion, HRM Oba Dr. Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara Kingdom, served as the Royal Father of the Day.

He offered prayers for the continued growth of Epe Division and joined the people in celebrating their cultural heritage, while also extending condolences on the passing of the late monarch.

From vibrant attire and traditional music to heartfelt speeches and communal prayer, the 2025 Ojude Oba celebration was more than just a festival, it was a reflection of Epe’s resilience, unity, and enduring respect for tradition.Dignitaries, Residents Gather to Celebrate Olu-Epe at Ojude Oba Festival Dignitaries, Residents Gather to Celebrate Olu-Epe at Ojude Oba FestivalDignitaries, Residents Gather to Celebrate Olu-Epe at Ojude Oba Festival Dignitaries, Residents Gather to Celebrate Olu-Epe at Ojude Oba Festival Dignitaries, Residents Gather to Celebrate Olu-Epe at Ojude Oba Festival
