With just days to go before Lagos State local government elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) staged a large-scale rally in Epe Division on Tuesday to consolidate grassroots support for its candidates.
EpeInsights reports that the event, held at the Epe Recreation Centre, drew party loyalists, political leaders, transport unions, market associations and youth and student groups from across the three local councils; Epe LGA, Eredo LCDA, and Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.
Party leaders used the platform to endorse incumbent chairpersons seeking re-election: Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun (Epe LGA), Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye (Eredo LCDA), and Akogun Wale Raji-Anomo (Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA). They cited the candidates’ development records and urged residents to turn out in large numbers on Saturday, July 12, for the polls.
Former Lagos Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji led calls for high voter participation, cautioning against apathy.
“These local elections are as important as national ones,” Ikuforiji said.
“We must not take anything for granted. Our unity and strength at the grassroots prepare us for 2027 and show our loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
Other dignitaries present included APC Apex Leader in Epe Division Alhaji Shakirudeen Akanni Seriki (Bamu), federal lawmaker Hon. Wale Raji, Lagos State House of Assembly members Hon. Abiodun Tobun and Hon. Sylvester Ogunkelu, Federal Population Commissioner Barr. Saidat Olayinka Oladunjoye, and APC Lagos East Vice Chairperson Yeye Olayinka Olusanya.
Hon. Raji praised the achievements of the current council administrations, declaring, “Epe has no opposition. The APC remains the people’s choice.”
Barr. Oladunjoye and Yeye Olusanya both emphasized continuity in governance, encouraging party supporters to campaign actively within their communities to secure victory.
The rally doubled as a show of political strength and unity, with participants waving APC banners and chanting slogans in support of President Tinubu and the ruling party’s local agenda.
The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) will conduct the local government elections on July 12 across the state’s 57 councils.
