The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has officially presented Certificates of Return to Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye and Hon. Lateef Adesanya, confirming their re-election as Executive Chairman and Vice Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
EpeInsights reports that the presentation ceremony, held at LASIEC headquarters, marked the formal conclusion of the 2025 local government elections in Eredo and across Lagos State.
The event was a significant milestone in the democratic process at the grassroots level, reinforcing the importance of credible elections in sustaining good governance.
The re-election of Akinloye and Adesanya underscores the confidence of the electorate in their leadership and performance during their previous term.
Speaking after receiving his Certificate of Return, Hon. Akinloye described the moment as both humbling and inspiring.
He emphasized that the certificate represents a renewed mandate and a commitment to build on the achievements of his first term.
“This certificate is not just a formality but a symbol of trust bestowed upon us by the people of Eredo,” he said.
“Our administration will continue to prioritize infrastructure development, improve healthcare access, empower the youth and enhance educational opportunities across the LCDA.”
Hon. Lateef Adesanya, the Vice Chairman-elect, expressed gratitude to the residents of Eredo for their support and reaffirmed his dedication to collaborative governance.
He promised to work closely with the Chairman to foster unity and ensure effective administration that is responsive to the needs of the people.
“Our focus will remain on transparent leadership, inclusivity, and tangible results that improve the daily lives of our constituents,” Adesanya stated.
The Chairman of LASIEC, Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (Rtd.), commended all elected candidates for their peaceful participation in the electoral process.
She reiterated the commission’s commitment to conducting free, fair, and credible elections across Lagos State.
“The successful conclusion of the local government elections demonstrates the maturity of Lagosians and the strength of our democratic institutions,” she noted.
“We expect all elected officials to uphold the trust placed in them and to govern with integrity and dedication.”
During his previous term, Hon. Akinloye’s administration received accolades for numerous developmental projects, including the renovation of rural roads, establishment of youth empowerment programs, enhancement of primary healthcare centres and promotion of educational initiatives aimed at increasing school enrollment and literacy rates.
These efforts contributed significantly to improving the quality of life for residents and fostering economic growth within Eredo LCDA.
Looking ahead, the newly re-elected leadership faces the challenge of sustaining momentum and addressing emerging issues such as improved waste management, security enhancement, and infrastructural modernization.
Community stakeholders have expressed optimism that the continued leadership of Akinloye and Adesanya will bring about greater engagement with residents and accelerated development in the coming years.
Preparations are currently underway for the official swearing-in ceremony, which will mark the commencement of their second term in office.
The event is expected to attract prominent government officials, traditional rulers, and community leaders who will lend support to the new administration’s vision for progress.
As Eredo enters this new chapter, the emphasis remains on fostering participatory governance that puts the people first, ensuring transparency, accountability and inclusive growth for all communities within the Local Council Development Area.
