In the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, has reached out to 12,000 households with food support across the 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the district.
EpeInsights learnt that the initiative, conducted on Wednesday, June 4, also included the distribution of 75 cows and 200 rams to traditional rulers, party leaders, religious clerics and key community stakeholders as part of his ongoing #DoingGood programme.
Each beneficiary household received food packs containing rice and garri, with the packages branded with the names of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Senator Abiru underscoring the senator’s alignment with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and national food security efforts.
Special attention was given to vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities, the elderly, women, and unemployed youths.
Many recipients were selected through an online nomination process aimed at ensuring transparency and equitable distribution.
Speaking at his constituency office in Ikorodu, Senator Abiru reiterated his commitment to alleviating hardship among his constituents, particularly during significant religious and cultural celebrations.
“This programme reflects our continued commitment to the welfare of the people of Lagos East, especially during seasons of spiritual reflection and celebration like Eid-el-Kabir,” he said.
“We must continue to support each other and work together across all levels of government to provide relief in these challenging times.”

The outreach drew commendation from prominent community figures, including Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State and APC apex leader in Ikorodu Division, who lauded Senator Abiru’s consistency in championing people-focused programmes.
Beyond seasonal interventions, Senator Abiru has gained recognition for his wide-ranging empowerment initiatives, which span digital skills training, business grants, educational support and other sustainable community development efforts.
