Otunba Dr. Olusegun Agbaje, Commissioner III of the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), has described the late Olu-Epe, Oba Dr. Shefiu Adewale Bamgbopa Eshilokun I, as a “regal icon” and a “true peacemaker.”

EpeInsights reports that Dr. Agbaje made this statement during a condolence visit to the monarch’s widow, Olori Alhaja Aribike Adewale, where he delivered an emotional tribute to the late king who passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025.

“Kabiyesi was a man of rare wisdom. He led with calm, chose peace over conflict, and guided his people with gentle strength,” Dr. Agbaje said.

“Even in difficult times, he saw hope and opportunity. His presence brought stability and confidence to our people.”

The TESCOM commissioner also attended the Fidau prayer held at the First Epe Central Mosque, Oke-Balogun, in honour of the late monarch.

Joined by dignitaries, clerics, and community leaders, he offered prayers for divine comfort for the royal family and for the continued unity of the kingdom.

Dr. Agbaje urged the people of Epe to uphold the values the late king championed — peace, unity, service, and community development.

“The greatest tribute we can give him is to walk the path he laid for us — a path of love, harmony, and collective progress,” he said.

The monarch’s passing has continued to draw widespread tributes across Lagos State and beyond. Residents, traditional rulers and political stakeholders have described Oba Eshilokun I as a symbol of dignity, humility and visionary leadership.

Since the announcement of his death, Epe has witnessed an outpouring of grief and remembrance — not just for a king, but for a father figure whose legacy remains deeply etched in the hearts of his people.

As the kingdom prepares for his final rites, the people of Epe remain united in their resolve to preserve and honour the legacy of Oba Shefiu Adewale Bamgbopa Eshilokun I — a monarch who led with wisdom, reigned with peace, and departed with grace."A Regal Icon and Peacemaker" -TESCOM Commissioner Agbaje Pays Tribute to Late Olu-Epe
