In a determined push to wipe out tuberculosis (TB) in Lagos communities, Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA) hosted a renewed awareness campaign on Thursday, reaffirming its commitment to the ongoing battle against the infectious disease.
EpeInsights reports that the event, held at the Council Secretariat, marked a follow-up to last year’s impactful “Stop TB” campaign spearheaded by wife of the Executive Chairman, Mrs. Ramat Bola Kasali, who is a recognized “Stop TB” ambassador.
The initiative aligns with the broader health agenda championed by the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu.
Residents turned out to access free health services, TB screenings, one-on-one medical consultations, and educational resources outlining the symptoms, prevention, and treatment of tuberculosis.
Health workers also emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and completing prescribed TB medication to ensure full recovery and prevent spread.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Kasali encouraged community members to remain vigilant and make use of available health services. “This is about saving lives. TB is preventable and curable if we act on time,” she said.
The event is part of Lekki LCDA’s broader strategy to promote grassroots healthcare and raise awareness about critical health issues affecting residents.
With initiatives like this, the LCDA continues to position itself as a model for proactive community health engagement in Lagos State.
