Communities in Epe Constituency II are beginning to see real change as road maintenance efforts spearheaded by Hon. Ogunkelu Sylvester intensify.
EpeInsights learnt that once-neglected roads are now getting the attention they’ve long deserved, with key projects completed and more currently underway.
Among the recently completed roads are: Odo Egiri–Iraye link road, which now connects residents to Mot Junction more easily and ogun Street in Odogbowojo, now fully rehabilitated and motorable.
Work is also progressing on Oluayan Street, stretching from Odogbowojo to Mojoda, where drainage is being cleared and surface grading is ongoing, a major relief for an area once plagued by flooding and poor access.
Hon. Ogunkelu, a vocal advocate for grassroots development, described the road projects as a means to an end. “This is more than road repair,” he explained.
“It’s about connecting people, enhancing safety, and creating an enabling environment for economic growth.”
For many locals, these efforts are already making a difference. Mr. Azeez, a resident of Odogbowojo, recalled the challenges of transportation before the repairs.
“Drivers used to avoid our street completely. Now, we’re seeing more vehicles come through and less stress moving around.”
The projects are part of Hon. Ogunkelu’s broader plan to revamp infrastructure in the constituency and ensure no community is left behind. With more phases of development in the pipeline, he’s calling for continued community support.
“We’re just getting started,” he said.
“Our goal is to cover even more roads in the coming months, and with the people’s cooperation, we’ll keep making progress that lasts.”
As the roadworks advance, so does a renewed sense of hope in Epe — that focused, local leadership can indeed deliver visible, positive change at the grassroots level.
