In a bold and united stand against drug abuse, the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, joined forces with the MTN Foundation for an advocacy walk at the University of Lagos, Akoka, in Bariga.
EpeInsights gathered that the event brought together students, volunteers, health advocates and government representatives, all marching with a shared mission: to raise awareness, spark dialogue and mobilize collective action against the rising threat of substance abuse among young people.
Dr. Sanwo-Olu, who has remained a vocal advocate for youth well-being, emphasized the need for sustained public enlightenment and community involvement.
“The fight against drug abuse is not one we can afford to take lightly. It is a shared responsibility — one that requires us all to raise our voices, take a stand, and protect our future,” she said.
The partnership with the MTN Foundation highlights a growing collaboration between government and private organizations in addressing pressing social issues.
Through community-focused campaigns like this, the message is clear: A drug-free Lagos is possible, but it takes everyone; parents, schools, faith-based groups and young people themselves.
The advocacy walk featured informative placards, interactive sessions, and a renewed call to action for stakeholders to invest in prevention, support systems, and open conversations about the dangers of drug use.
As the walk wrapped up at the UNILAG campus, the First Lady reiterated her commitment to seeing a Lagos where every youth has the opportunity to thrive free from the grip of drug abuse.
The campaign continues across various parts of the state, reinforcing the message: Say No to Drugs. Say Yes to a Brighter Future.
