In its ongoing mission to strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots, Lagos State Health District III is deepening collaboration with community influencers to drive awareness and support for state-led health initiatives.

EpeInsights reports that at the heart of this renewed push is a call for greater involvement from religious leaders, traditional rulers, and community-based organisations.

The appeal was made by the District’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, during the recently concluded quarterly stakeholders’ engagement sessions held across Epe and Eti-Osa LGAs.

Dr. Adeleke noted that previous engagements have played a vital role in overcoming key challenges in the state’s Primary Health Care (PHC) system.

“These meetings have become strategic avenues for honest conversations around obstacles and opportunities in PHC delivery,” she said, highlighting the collaborative spirit that continues to shape solutions tailored to local realities.

One of the major wins she highlighted was the noticeable increase in participation during recent immunisation campaigns, a direct result of ongoing community advocacy and growing public trust in state health programmes.

Looking ahead, Health District III is gearing up for several impactful public health campaigns, including: Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Week, the HPV Vaccination Drive and the National Immunisation Plus Days (NIPD)

Dr. Adeleke stressed the importance of parental support, particularly when it comes to childhood vaccinations.

“Parents and caregivers must understand that granting consent for childhood vaccinations is a critical step toward safeguarding their children’s health and preventing outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases,” she said.

She also praised stakeholders for their continuous dedication and reaffirmed the District’s commitment to building a resilient, inclusive, and community-led PHC system.

These collective efforts, she added, are in line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision of a healthier, more accessible Lagos for all.

As Lagos continues its journey toward #AGreaterLagosRising, partnerships at the grassroots remain a cornerstone for lasting impact in public health.
