Young people in Lagos just got a digital boost, through a powerful collaboration between MTN Nigeria and the Lagos State Agency for Mass Education.
EpeInsights Through the annual Y’ello Care employee volunteer initiative, youths at the Rotary Vocational Training Centre (RVTC) in Igbogbo, Ikorodu were empowered with tech skills and vital resources to help them thrive in today’s digital-first world.
Over a focused three-day training, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of coding, a key skill in today’s job market. But MTN didn’t stop there, they also made sure the centre was better equipped to keep the learning going.
In her remarks, Director of the Lagos State Agency for Mass Education, Mrs. Oluwakemi Kalesanwo, praised the initiative, describing it as a major step toward sustainable youth empowerment.
“The hands-on training, combined with MTN’s generous donation of computers, a solar inverter, and digital tools, will transform this facility and give our youths a stronger footing in the tech space,” she said.
MTN Donated; brand-new 2-in-1 HP desktop computers, 5 UPS units to maintain stable power, a 3.5 KVA solar system inverter, complete with 2 tubular batteries and 4 solar panels as well as 5G router with 3 months of subscription, ensuring strong internet connectivity
These donations provide both immediate learning support and long-term infrastructure improvements for the centre, a move that underscores MTN’s commitment to community development through technology.
The event brought together key players from both the public and private sectors. Representing the Lagos State Agency for Mass Education were Ibukun Seriki, Ibraheem Mustapha, Olaide Oladunjoye, Adegoke Otaru and Adeniyi Ologuntoye, alongside RVTC Principal Mosun Otitoloju and Vice-Principal Olayemi Adesina.
From MTN’s side, Kokapo Olaleye, Yemisi Adeleye, Samusideen Odufisan, Moses Oyerinde, Ademola Olaniyan, Funmi Jegede and Adeboye Adenuga were all present, reaffirming the telecom giant’s hands-on approach to CSR.
