Epe Insights reports that Hon. Princess Olayemi Sura Animashaun, the Chairman of Epe Local Government in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city, has invested over ₦30 million in supporting farmers in Epe.
The ₦30 million investment by the Epe Local Government Chairman was disclosed by a prominent farmer in Epe, Alhaja Shabi Aminat, during an inspection tour of various projects initiated by the chairman over the past four years.
Epe Local Government Vice Chairman, Hon. Sikiru Owolomoshe, led the inspection tour of the various projects in Epe.
Alhaja Shabi said the intervention of the Epe LG Chairman has benefited several farmers such as crop farmers, fishers, and other agricultural stakeholders in Epe, leading to a noticeable reduction in food prices across local government.
“Hon. Surah has been very supportive of farmers in Epe. She has invested over N30 million in different agricultural projects, ensuring that farmers have to access resources that improve their productivity. Because of her intervention, food prices in Epe are coming down,” she stated.
Alhaja Shabi commended Honourable Animashaun for her swift response to water hazards affecting fish farming in the area, which has resulted in massive losses for fish farmers.
“One of the biggest challenges we face is water hazards, which often kill our fish. The chairman has been proactive in addressing this issue.
“She is working on acquiring instruments that will generate oxygen for the fish whenever there is a water hazard.
“She also plans to demarcate the water from the ponds to minimize the impact,” Alhaja Shabi added.
Epe Farmers lauded Hon. Surah Animashaun for her commitment to agricultural development, stressing that her administration’s efforts have significantly boosted food security and economic growth in Epe LG.
